Nigerian musician Davido has extended his condolences to colleague Wizkid, who lost his mum over the weekend.

Calling Wizkid his brother, Davido in a post on X (formerly Twitter), noted that he will keep the ‘Essence‘ hitmaker in his prayers as he comes to terms with the sad news.

“Praying for you my brother @wizkidayo Sadness flies away on the wings of time,” the post read.

This comes after Sunday Aare, Wizkid’s manager, announced on Friday that the Nigerian Afrobeat star, born Ayodeji Balogun, had lost his mother, Dolapo Balogun.

He broke the news stating: “Yes, she died this morning, at about 1.30 am.”

The 33-year-old Grammy award winner is yet to make a public statement as regards his loss.

Mrs Balogun had two other children — Yetunde Balogun and Lade Balogun. In 2014, Wizkid released a song titled ‘Joy’, specially dedicated to his mother.

In 2022, Davido had an encounter with Mrs Balogun, who he describes as amazing, at the airport.

“Such an amazing woman… God bless you ma….D [sic] way I was carrying mummy’s bags today at the airport….Dem [sic] know say nah [sic] First class citizen,” he wrote.
