If you are against the LGBTQ society, don’t wear designer brands – Sister Derby
Musician cum socialite, Deborah Bonsu, popularly known as Sister Derby, has restated her stance on issues relating to the LGBTQ society in Ghana.
Sister Derby’s advocacy for the rights of the LGBTQ community is no secret, as she has been captured on several occasions chastising critics of the same-sex community.
Asides from engaging in a series of banter with anti-gay rights activists, particularly with the Ningo Prampram MP, Mr. Sam George, which trended on Twitter recently, Sister Derby is an ardent patron of LGBTQ gatherings.
However, in the latest development, the ‘Kakalika’ hitmaker has been captured on a podcast session where she opened up on reasons for her pro-gay activism.
Buttressing her point, Sister Derby opined that most investors and successful showbiz stakeholders are members of the LGBTQ community.
She said most of the top fashion brands are owned by ‘queer persons’ and as such, anyone against them should also desist from wearing their brands.
“I care a lot and I am passionate enough because I have empathy. Secondly, in my industry, most of the people that are making it happen are part of the LGBTQ community. I don’t even like the fact that it is a community. Why is it a community? We are all humans, right? I don’t see why it should even be different.
“The top fashion designers, the make-up artistes, the hair stylists. The top top fashion designers in the world, let’s say 99% are queer. So, if you are against queer persons, please stop wearing designer brands,” she stated during a podcast titled, ‘Sincerely Accra.’
Gospel Singer Joe Mettle Donates and Fellowships with Flood Victims of Mepe, Volta Region
Joe Mettle has extended his support to the victims of recent devastating floods in Mepe, Volta Region. This benevolence act, which serves as a beacon of hope in these challenging times, is part of his annual “Love Gift” initiative, where he visits communities, fellowships with them, and makes generous donations.
The renwoned gospel artiste, known for his soulful music and philanthropic efforts, donated essential relief items and spent quality time in fellowship with the affected individuals. The donation included camp tents, food items and provisions, clean water, clothing, and medical supplies, aimed at providing immediate relief to the victims who have lost their homes and belongings in the flood following the Akosombo Dam spillage.
In addition to the material aid, Mettle also spent time in fellowship with the victims, offering words of comfort and encouragement. His visit brought smiles to many faces, as he shared prayers and sang gospel songs, lifting the spirits of those present.
Mettle expressed his deep sympathy for the victims and urged others to contribute in any way they can. “It’s a difficult time for those affected by the floods,” Mettle said. “Through the ‘Love Gift’, we hope to provide some comfort and help them get through this challenging period.”

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for the North Tongu in the Volta Region, who received the donations on behalf of the community, expressed his gratitude. “We are deeply touched by Joe Mettle’s generosity. His ‘Love Gift’ initiative is a testament to the power of community spirit and compassion. On behalf of the people of Mepe, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Joe Mettle for his kindness and support during this challenging time.”

Gospel powerhouse and 5x GRAMMY-nominated gospel singer Travis Greene has announced a concert in Ghana on Wednesday, December 6, at the Empowerment Worship Centre—The Prayer Factory, Dzorwulu.
