Kamala Harris: See which roads will be blocked in Accra and Cape Coast during US VP’s visit

The Ghana Police have informed the public of traffic management measures being implemented in Accra and Cape Coast as part of security preparations for the official state visit by Her Excellency Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States of America.

The measures will be in place from March 26 to March 29, 2023.

According to a statement by the Police, intermittent roadblocks will be set up on several roads during specific times. 

On March 26th, roadblocks will be in place from midday to 4:00 pm along Liberation Road, from the Kotoka International Airport traffic intersection through Opeibia to the National Theatre.

On March 27th, roadblocks will be in place from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm on several roads, including the National Theatre to the Jubilee House, and the Ako Adjei Interchange to the Bukom Boxing Arena.

On March 28th, roadblocks will be in place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm from the National Theatre to Castle Traffic Light at the Black Star Square. 

In Cape Coast, roadblocks will be in place from midday to 6:00 pm on March 28th from the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium through Bakano Road to Omanhene’s Palace, and from the Omanhene’s Place through Beach Road to the Cape Coast Castle.

On March 29th, roadblocks will be in place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from the National Theatre through the Jubilee House along the Liberation Road to the Pawpaw Street area in East Legon.

The Police have asked motorists to cooperate with them and to use alternative routes whenever possible to ensure effective traffic management. 

They have also indicated that police officers will be stationed along the affected roads and at other strategic points to assist the public. The Police have apologized for any inconvenience caused by these arrangements.
