Nananom and Residents of Pepaase, a farming community in the Berekum East District of the Bono Region have threatened to boycott the 2024 general elections should the poor state of their bridge remain unattended.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Kwame Boahene, the secretary of the Pepaase community warned politicians of the various political parties not to visit the community for any campaign activities because they will boycott the elections if their broken bridge is not fixed stressing that until their bridge is fixed, the Electoral Commission must not visit the community with ballot boxes for elections.
The Sanaahene of Pepaase bemoaned how the damaged bridge has retard progress in the community explaining that the poor state of the bridge has expelled companies who are willing to expand their reach to the community for the purposes of job creation therefore Nananom are in extreme support with the youth to ensure their bridge is well fix before this year’s elections or else they will hold a massive demonstration against the government.
Finally, a Unit Committee Member of the Pepaase community Mr. Kwame Henneh also explained their willingness to support the teaming Youths within the community to stage a demonstration against the government over the continuous neglect of their roads which has resulted in the collapse of their bridge stressing that they still stand by the decision of boycotting the upcoming general elections and subsequent elections until their bridge is well fixed.
