Patients at the Assin Fosu Polyclinic are currently stranded due to a sit-down strike by nurses and other medical staff.
The strike is a result of the shortage of medical doctors at the polyclinic.
According to anonymous nurses interviewed , the polyclinic has been operating with only one doctor for the past 7 years.
And in the absence of the doctor, the nurses are forced to handle all patient care, which is affecting the quality of healthcare delivery.
The nurses are also concerned about their working conditions and have vowed to continue the strike until their demands are met.
About three weeks ago, the minority caucus held a press conference addressed by it’s leader Dr Casiel Ato Forson criticizing the government of signing multiple contracts without recourse to due process and appropriate institutions.
However, the majority leader Alexander afenyo markin, refuted the claim indicating that not all contract need to undergo parliamentary approval quoting article 181 (5) to back his claim.
He noted that government is focused on improving livelihood of Ghanaians hence the minority should stop sabotaging the economy.
The majority leader noted the NPP will by all means win the December 7 elections even if the NDC continues to throw tantrums in the eyes of electorates.
