Stop the 10% bet tax – Opare Addo

The National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) George Opare Addo has said the 10 percent tax on betting should be abolished.

The Implementation of 10per cent withholding Tax on the gross winnings from all Betting, Gaming, Lotto and other Games of Chance started on Tuesday 15th August 2023.

This followed the passage of the Income Tax (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 2023 (Act 1094)

Opare Addo in a statement said “10%!! He’s no priest yet he wants ten percent of your earnings. What’s it with Akufo Addo and playing priest; first it’s a cathedral, now he wants tithes. Failed President!”
