The Despite family is the 5th richest family in Ghana.

The family is headed by Dr. Osei-Kwame also known as Despite.

Despite is a prominent Ghanaian businessman with a  background in music production.

Dr  Osei-Kwame is the owner of the Despite Company Ltd which is a trading company and with subsidiaries in the media industry namely, PEACE FM, OKAY FM, NEAT FM both in Accra and HELLO FM in Kumasi. 

Despite set-up NEAT FOODS LTD, which processes local plantain, cocoyam, maize and palm fruits such as Neat Fufu,

He also owns a manufacturing company ANTONA FOODS LTD, producing the ever popular THIS WAY chocolate drink and other flavours including the Motherlac cereal for children. Despite is a co-founder of a Salt mining company, U2 Salt, which is located at Winneba. 

Dr. Osei-Kwame with his partner co-founded the United Television (UTV) which is leading TV station in the country. He is the co-founder and Vice Chairman of Best Point Savings and Loans Ltd, a very renowned financial institution in the country.

4 The Jonah Family – Net worth $1.2bn

The Jonah family headed by Sam Jonah is the 4th richest family in Ghana, also with a net worth of $1.2bn.

Born Samuel Esson Jonah on 19 November 1949, Sam Jonah is a Ghanaian businessman and the current chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.

He is the executive chairman of Jonah Capital, an equity fund based in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

Jonah was previously president of AngloGold Ashanti and shared the strategic leadership of the company with its CEO, Bobby Godsell.

3 The Kufuor Family – Net worth $1.2bn

The Kufour family is the 3rd richest family in Ghana with a net worth of $1.2bn.

The family patriarch, John Agyekum Kufour, is a politician, lawyer and businessman who served as the President of Ghana from 7 January 2001 to 7 January 2009. He was also Chairperson of the African Union from 2007 to 2008.

Kufour’s brother, Dr Kwame Addo Kufuor, is also a rich and powerful Ghanaian businessman and politician.

2 The Taricone Family – Net worth $1.3bn

The Taricone family are the 2nd richest family in Ghana with a net worth of $1.3bn.

Family patriarch, Ernesto Taricone is an Italian businessman whose family has been in Ghana since 1968.

Taricone leads the Trasacco Group, which focuses on agriculture, construction, mining, design, and real estate development. Trasacco Estate Development Company, a Trasacco company, has more than $500 million invested in active projects in Ghana.

He is also a co-owner of Royal Aluminium Systems, which manufactures aluminium windows and doors.

1 The Ampofo Family – Net worth $1.4bn

The Ampofo family, headed by Charles Ampofo has been adjudged the richest family in Ghana.

Charles Ampofo was the Chairman and Founder of Kampac Group, which is located in the United Arab Emirates’ economic capital of Dubai. 

The Group is involved in a variety of businesses, with Kampac Oil being its core activity. Kampac Properties, Kampac Travels, Kampac Flora, Kampac Telecom, and Kampac Resources are all part of the Group.
