The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is trending on Twitter, following an act of service.

The MP was seen personally handing out yoghurt on a tray to her constituents at a recent event.

This comes after she rendered an unqualified apology to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), especially the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and other party officials.

The Dome-Kwabenya MP, who was absent from her post for over a year after travelling to the United States, is trying to make amends, and has topped Twitter trends for it.

The video was shared by United Television on Twitter with the caption “Mother for all” and has since drawn various reactions.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed deep concern over the increasing spate of coup d’états occurring on the African continent.

He attributes these military takeovers to the challenging economic conditions faced by nations, leading to the ousting of democratically elected governments.

Addressing the St. Andrews Africa Summit in Scotland, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II vehemently opposed the notion of military coups as a solution to Africa’s problems. He emphasized that regardless of the circumstances, he firmly believes that military takeovers are not the answer.

“Let me make it categorically clear that regardless of the circumstances, I do not think that a military takeover offers the solution to the problems of our continent. There was a time when circumstances produced the notion that the gun was the solution, those times are over.

“We are in completely different circumstances now. The critical problems confronting Africans’ economy from North to South, East to West, the burden is the economy,” the Asantehene said.

several African countries have experienced coups in recent years, with notable instances in Niger and Gabon.

The most recent incident occurred in Gabon when military officers took control on August 30, announcing the annulment of election results that declared President Ali Bongo the winner.

The electoral commission’s declaration had sparked allegations of fraud by the opposition.

Forty (40) Chief Inspectors in the Ghana Police Service have sued the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare, over what they describe as the unjustifiable refusal of the service to promote them.

In a writ filed at the Kumasi High Court, the Police Officers claim they have been excluded from a series of promotions prompted by the Service to grant special amnesty to police officers who had obtained degrees before 2020 after they were enrolled into the service.

The Officers say despite serving between 25 to 30 years, the Police administration has promoted their junior colleagues under the same amnesty but refused to grant them entry to the Police Academy to facilitate their promotions to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

The 40 plaintiffs are therefore praying the court to order the IGP to grant them direct access to the Police Academy and further restore their loss of income following the failure to promote them.

The IGP and some three senior police officers are before a parliamentary committee probing a leaked tape on which the police officers are heard plotting his removal.

Both the IGP and his accusers have already appeared before the committee.

The committee which is on a break is set to resume sitting on October 2 2023.
