Mahama teaches delegates how to vote to avoid spoilt ballots

Former President John Dramani Mahama has walked delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) through the procedure in voting in a way that reduces cases of spoilt ballots in elections ahead of the presidential primaries of the NDC on Saturday, May 13. 

Addressing delegates of the NDC at Wa Central on Tuesday, May 9, Mr Mahama who is contesting for the flagbearer position of the main opposition party indicated that he would be able to get the 100 percent votes in the constituency as assured by the executives if the delegates are careful during voting to avert spoilt ballots.

He said “When you are voting kindly put your thumbprint in the middle of the box, don’t let it cross, you will find my picture there, if you see my picture just put your thumbprint there.

“One of the things that spoils the most ballot is that after we apply the thumbprint we don’t clean our thumb and so the ink is not yet dry on our thumb and then we hold the paper to try and fold it and then it thump prints another place.

“Once they see two thump prints then your votes is spoilt. So let us use the last few days to teach our people how to vote.”
