Ghanaian actor/ Entrepreneur turned politician, Fred Nuamah, has disclosed his plans to pursue his political ambitions despite his withdrawal from the impending National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Ayawaso West-Wuogon parliamentary primaries.

Speaking in an interview with Graphic Showbiz, the C.E.O of Ghana Movie Awards Nuamah shed light on his decision to step back from the race, a move that placed his close friend, acclaimed actor John Dumelo, as a frontrunner.

However, Nuamah clarified that his withdrawal marked a temporary hiatus from the forefront of political activities rather than a complete cessation of his political aspirations.

“While my decision to pull back from the Ayawaso West-Wuogon NDC parliamentary primaries might indicate a temporary break from my political ambitions, it doesn’t necessarily mean that I have given up on politics. No!” he asserted, speaking of his future plans.

According to him, he is committed to his party and he is ready to contribute to various capacities within the political landscape.

“I will serve my party and Ghanaians in several ways and at different levels. The future will take care of itself,” he stated confidently.

Fred Nuamah’s announcement of his withdrawal from the NDC’s Ayawaso West-Wuogon parliamentary race on Monday, August 7, 2023 came as a surprise to many, given his fervent pursuit of the seat earlier this year.

The news not only grabbed headlines but also raised eyebrows, especially considering his close friendship with John Dumelo, who contested for the same seat in the previous general elections.

Initially, their political aspirations appeared to strain their camaraderie.

However, Nuamah later clarified that he had the blessing of Dumelo to contest the Ayawaso West-Wuogon seat on the NDC ticket, as Dumelo was eyeing a different constituency.

Despite these intricate dynamics, Nuamah insisted that his announcement to compete against Dumelo in the primaries did not harm their friendship.

In a remarkable display of unity, Nuamah asserted, “I believe that whatever happened has rather strengthened the bond we share. As I’m speaking to you now, I have already gotten in touch with my brother and I have extended my endorsement and support for his candidacy.”

Nuamah’s support is not just symbolic; he affirmed his dedication to rallying his supporters within the party to back Dumelo’s campaign, fostering a united front for the NDC’s success in the constituency.
